CORDA

A healthy and passionate reaction to the age of feelings digitalization, this new project finds Francesco Perissi (Qube, XO) on guitar and vocals, bassist Andrea Cuccaro (Bad Apple Sons, Verdiana Raw) and drummer Martino Lega (Pentolino’s Orchestra, Walking the Cow) joining together for the first time as a trio under the name CORDA, from Latin meaning “hearts” and in Italian something to grab onto.
The result is a mixture of haunting rhythms and electric shocks with sounds derived from post punk and electronic experimentation.

XO

XO is based on the combination of textures created by the electric guitar with rhythmic elements and electronic filters adding minimal voice with large amount of effects.

1st album NDE is acronym of “Near Death Experience” (2014). The titles of the songs have molecular names and follow each other with a precise temporal order, drugs addicition from light to heavy ones C21H30O2 is THC, C13H16CINO is MDMA ecc. NDE was remixing and remastering in winter 2019 (NDEr – “Near Death Experience reflections” edited by BLAME records) reconsidering addictions experience with voice and lyrics.

2nd album “ROSSANA” (2020 – GUELFO) is the name of a loved one who has passed away contains a symbolic imagery of the emotional sphere of affectivity, often marked by destructive and constructive impulses. The description of these processes occurs through five progressive phases, borrowed from Swiss psychiatrist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross (1926-2004), describing the overcoming of a traumatic event: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. In ROSSANA each phase is represented in its sensations by two tracks, for a total of ten tracks, with the idea of ​​a “cathartic” dimension of music that, in this case, moves between avant-garde of feelings, dark pop song-form, IDM and minimalism.

3rd album “10” (2023 – GUELFO, BLAME rec) is the album celebrating 10 years of the Francesco Perissi XO project. 10 is the number of the tracks it contains: two unreleased tracks, one from 2012 (X01) and the last one composed in 2022 (VOLAREVIA), and 8 remixes from the second studio work (NDEr, 2019) and the last album (ROSSANA, 2020). The remixes are created by musicians who played a role in Perissi’s musical life (Justin K Broadrick, Eraldo Bernocchi, Naresh Ran) and represent the ambient-rock and attentive listening part of the collection; and by musicians who gravitate around the Blame rec label (Nigh/T\mare, OCD, Kassidy Human Waste, Vittorio di Mango, Michele Sfregola, In A Slaughter Brain) and make up the more EBM and clubbing part. These two aspects are intertwined in Francesco Perissi XO music.
The cover of “10” involved fans of the project who collected photographic evidence of commercial products, messages, children’s games, alcoholic products, and original compositions from all over the world that contained the XO logo.

X6

X6 is a project for augmented electric guitar spatialized in 6.1 channels. The idea of the name comes from the encounter between the solo project of electronic music “XO” and the number of speakers required for the execution of the performance. With the X6 configuration, thanks to a special “splitter box”, it is possible to pick up the audio signal from hexaphonic pick-up of the instrument and direct it toward the preamplifiers, obtaining as a result an electric guitar that individually distributes the signal of each string in each speaker . The three songs composed for this configuration: “1”, “quI/Ora”, “Ntanglement” have sound coming from the electroacoustic music, electronic and rock. The instrument is played live while the electronics is developed autonomously thanks to the automation of the filtering.
